Acapella choir is a small group of students from the Choir program that take part in extra performances in events. This group sings pop-style arrangements akin to groups like Pentatonix.

Art Club is an extra-curricular club for all Woodland Middle School 6th, 7th and 8th grade students interested in pursuing art activities. Art Club meets once or twice a month on Thursday, immediately after school until 4:30.  

Battle of the Books is a middle school extracurricular opportunity for students who enjoy reading and discussing books. Battle of the Books members are given a list of eight books to read and attend meetings prior to the competition to discuss the books. Students who wish to be considered for this club are required to take a preliminary test and complete the application packet. The students with the ten highest scores and who participate in the club meetings will be chosen for a competition which is held in late March/early April each year.  All middle school teams meet for a quiz bowl contest.  Students compete against their peers on content-related questions pertaining to the assigned books. Competition date, time, and location are given to parents when students have completed the application process.

Chess club meets during Warrior on Tuesdays in Mr. Jordan's room.  

Students will be improving our skills each week in preparation for the regional and state tournaments.

The Forensics, Speech and Debate Team is for students who enjoy public speaking, engaging with other students, and sharing their voices and opinions. We will get to connect with new people, hear new ideas, and shift our perspectives as we grow and challenge each other.

Students will pick pieces or topics to work on over the course of the year and will have opportunities to compete at various tournaments. We will also have members from the RHS Speech and Debate Team who will work with us and help us prepare. We will meet every other Wednesday (and as needed) to prepare speeches and cases, enjoy learning and sharing knowledge with each other, and gain confidence in our speaking skills.

Library Workers provides an opportunity for students to learn about the inner workings of the library through hands-on experience. Students will learn to shelf read, re-shelve books, work a circulation desk, and maintain a clean and functional library space. 

Meetings: Each student is scheduled one shift per week during either Warrior or Focus depending on their availability.

The YMCA of Middle Tennessee holds a Model UN Conference for middle school students. The conference offers younger students an introduction to the United Nations General Assembly. While the conference is simplified compared to the larger-scale high school versions, the students benefit from the same valuable educational opportunities when drafting and debating proposals.

Novel Writing Club provides an opportunity for students who enjoy writing and aspire to write their own novel a chance to do so in a setting with other like-minded students. Students motivate, challenge, and encourage each other to reach their goal. This club also provides an opportunity to get feedback throughout the writing process from peers through the use of group editing exercises.

This year's team has been selected!  It was a highly competitive set of tryout interviews with over 80 students attempting to join the team.

This team is limited to 20 students (Four teams of five students each) and those students are selected after completing an interview process with Ravenwood High School VEX robotics students.  8th graders are given first priority in filling the 20 slots.  7th graders are next and if any open slots remain, 6th graders might be considered. 

Making the team will require commitments to meeting at least once a week after school to build and code VEX Robots and to attending weekend competitions.

Teams will compete in scrimmages at various WCS middle schools, with possible qualifying advancement to official VEX Robotics Competitions.

STARS is a fun student-led club and an opportunity to be a leader and role model at school! Help plan/implement activities and preventative factors for mental health throughout our school and community (prevention events, fundraisers, community service, etc.)

Student Council is an important group of students who meet every other week (on Tuesdays) to organize and carry out projects to help the school and the community during the school year.  

The group is comprised of homeroom representatives and at-large members. The homeroom representatives are elected or selected by the homeroom to represent the homeroom class, so these students report back their homerooms and help lead their homerooms during competitions. The at-large members are full-fledged Student Council members, but they are not required to be spokespeople for their homerooms. The at-large members may come and go, as their after-school schedules allow.

Some of the projects the Student Council has conducted in the past have been the collection of canned food for the needy of Williamson County, collection of funds to aid the victims of disasters,  fund-raising projects to purchase special items for the school, sponsoring dances for 7th and 8th Graders, and organizing “Spirit Week” to foster school spirit for the whole student body.​
